This Nonpareil Huang Shan Mao Feng is handmade from pre-ming wild tea. One of the Chinese Top Ten teas. Pre-ming tea has strict requirement of the picking time and its making standard, thus the sparrow-tongue appearance could been perfect formed, as well as the smooth sweet taste. Both of these characteristics are favoured by tea lovers.

Te Gong refers to two Chinese words: 特(tè) and 贡(gòng). 特 is short for 特级, which means the tea’s grade is nonpareil; while 贡 is short for 贡品(gòng pǐn), meaning that the tea was used to be paid as tribute to the emperor.

History

Due to its ideal tea growing environment of high mountains, cool weather and cloudy weather, the area around Mt. HuangShan in Anhui has been used to cultivate high quality tea for centuries. Modern HuangShan MaoFeng tea however traces its roots back to the late 1800's and a merchant called Xie Zheng An, who fled the war at the time and decided to setup a family tea business at HuangShan Mountain. Naming it after where it was produced – HuangShan mountain – and its appearance – looking like a fur covered mountain peak - the tea his family produced quickly became very popular in China due to its excellent quality and great taste and aroma.


Origin Place

Shexian County (歙县), also called as She County, is a famous historic and cultural city lying in the south of Anhui Province. It geographically locates at 118°15′E to 118°53′E, 29°30′N to 30°7′N. The county belongs to Huangshan City, covers an area of 2122 square kilometres.

Tea garden

Dailin Tea Garden is located in Da Guyun village in Huang Shan. Da Guyun originally was implicating high mountains and deep valleys. The tea garden lies in remote areas in high mountains, at which the air is clean, the climate is moist and the four seasons are distinct. People here only plant tea and chrysanthemum.


About the Farmer

Mr Ke, who was born and grown up in the tea village, has been in tea industry for more than 40 years. He began to pick tea follow with parents early in his childhood and aspired to become a excellent tea maker. He started to learn making tea in his 15-year and quickly mastered the traditional skill of making Huang Shan Mao Feng tea. “I will devoted my whole life accompany with tea, as well as the innocent tea village” said Mr Ke.


Tea Tree species

The fresh tea leaves are from tea trees of Huangshan large-leaf species, originally distributes in Huang Shan. It is characteristic in early sprout, dense sprout, strong bud, numerous fuzz. The sample of one bud with two leaves of spring tea from this species contains about 5.2% of amino acid, 24.50% of tea polyphenols, 138.04 mg/g of catechin and 44.03% of aqueous extract.
