It is a chili used primarily in Mexican and Mexican-inspired cuisines, such as Mexican-American, Tex-Mex, and southwestern dishes. The name was adopted and the chili pepper used for a logo on the American restaurant chain Chipotle. A chipotle's heat is similar to that of the Espelette pepper, jalapeño, Guajillo chili, Hungarian wax pepper, Anaheim pepper, and Tabasco sauce. Heat level ranges from 10,000 to 35,000 SHUs.
