This natural deep rock salt was formed millions of years ago through the evaporation of sea water when the primeval oceans dried out. Through continental shifts, today there are deposits of German deep rock salt, protected from environmental influences, at a depth of 400 - 750 meters beneath the surface, thus it is in practice nothing other than a very ancient sea salt. Therefore the epithet primeval salt is often used nowadays. The deep rock salt in the salt deposits of the Upper Rhine Valley is excavated by miners and is of high and very white quality. It is completely natural and is neither purified nor bleached, nor does it contain any chemical additives. All essential minerals and trace elements are preserved in the rock salt. Our deep rock salt has a strong taste and is recommended as a salt for everyday use.
