The sea salt comes from the Piran saltern at the northern edge of the Istrian peninsula in Slovenia. The sea salt is gathered by hand at certain times in accordance with centuries-old tradition in the ecologically inspected national park "Secovlje Saline". Piran salt is of protected origin, certified by Veritas Bureau & Ministry of Agriculture. The taste is extremely rich and full of flavor, yet not aggressive nor bitter, containing numerous micro-elements and minerals necessary for humans. Piran salt has a less fine texture, perfect for seasoning meats, roasts, grilled vegetables, marinating, and finishing dishes. The difference in quality from other sea salts comes from the cultivation of "Petola algae" at the bottom of the salt pans. Ideal for salt crusts and for marinating salmon.
