The basis for the salt flakes is a natural rock salt from the Sierra Nevada. The rock salt is evaporated in a special and extremely laborious procedure. In this process any substances possibly insoluble in water are washed out; the rock salt has a high degree of purity. The exceptional flake structure of the Petalos de Sal results from this method. Owing to the laborious manufacturing process, only small quantities of rock salt flakes can be produced. Petalos de Sal is a pure natural product. It contains many minerals and trace elements and is not processed any further. Crackling small salt leaves with an intensive bouquet that blend with dishes, emphasizing their taste. The salt crystals have a fine, aromatic, mildly salty taste. Their structure gives the rock salt flakes a particularly crispy consistency.
