These versatile, Cook on Clay Oval Roasters / Paella Pots are available in Tuscan Gold and Bordeaux glazes. Bake, sauté, sear, braise, roast, broil, grill, simmer. From gorgeous roasted chickens to preparing  classic paellas! Flash cook greens, sauté vegetables, simmer risotto, caramelize onions, bake a fruit clafouti, beautifully presented from the kitchen to the table. These pots are carefully handmade and may vary slightly in surface and size. Use on the stovetop (gas, electric or wood), in the oven, under the broiler, on the grill. Our pots can go directly from the refrigerator to a hot oven and back again without cracking! These Oval Roaster / Paella Pots hold heat, keeping food warm during mealtime.100% environmentally safe, non toxic. Fired to 2400 degrees F. in a clean-burning propane-fueled kiln and packaged in 100% recyclable and re-useable materials.

Cook on Clay was launched in 2010 as a response to a growing customer base demanding more and newly designed flameware products. Cook on Clay pottery is 100% designed and handmade in America. Most other high quality cookware sold in America is made by European companies in Asia. Resisting the siren song of foreign manufacturing, Cook on Clay has invested in building a sustainable woman-owned local business.

Founders Robbie Lobell and Maryon Attwood are experienced clay artists who have long used flameware in their work. Working from their studios and manufacturing annex on Whidbey Island in northwest Washington, they have built a company around the idea that there is no better way to prepare and present food than in handmade pottery.

We believe cooking and serving food in handmade pottery forges connections -- with the farms that grow it, the earth that nourishes it, and the people who share it. As our company grows, reaching customers across America and beyond, we hope that those connections will take root in many communities.

The Cook on Clay mission and vision celebrates the importance of slow food, local food, international food, and the communities these foster. Continuing a long tradition of American craftsmanship, Cook on Clay melds beauty and utility in every piece to honor the deeply gratifying, universal act of cooking.

Beyond educating people about good food, cooking, and ceramic cookware, Cook on Clay is committed to educating the next generation of young women looking to studio arts as a career choice in sustainable business practices and the advantages of expanding their choices of tools to include manufacturing through our Zakin Apprenticeship Program.

Care:

Cook on Clay pots are dishwasher & microwave safe. They clean beautifully with 10 minutes of soaking. Feel free to use any scrub pads, they will not scratch the surface of your pot. You can use metal utensils and carve with a knife directly on the pot. Please be mindful that your pot is made of clay and needs to be handled appropriately.

The surface of your pot naturally changes with use and over time. This is a natural part of the maturation process, creating a rich patina & history of use. If you wish, a bit of vegetable oil rubbed into the surface after cleaning will rid the surface of “discoloration”. Pots may be used in the oven, under the broiler, on the grill and stovetop all depending on the shape & structure. You can use round-bottomed pats directly on the stovetop -- electric, gas or wood. The pots may easily be transferred from the refrigerator or freezer to a hot cooking environment and back again. No seasoning or soaking is necessary.
